The Girl in Red’s Weblog

{July 25, 2009}   Cold-y Cold

Yep, it’s doona weather, people. Okay, I saw the teaser trailer for Tom Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. I offically would like to se it now. I’ve also found out that Alan Rickman is the Caterpillar and Stephen Fry is the Cheshire Cat, for all wondering.

Bought the Hook Me Up album by the Veronicas. Sweet! Went out to an asian restaurant followed by a place speacialising in dessert. I had a thing with passonfruit shortbread, raspberries, passionfruit mousse, three different kinds of raspberry mousse (w/red wine, w/chocolate, w/basil). YUM!!!!!!!!!! Man, it was extravagant.

The other day, I saw a program called Dance Your Ass Off. My friend said she thought it was a skit at first. She tried to make me promise that I wouldn’t watch it again (because of the entertainment of the dancing, I didn’t).

Oh, did I mention how I stacked it up an escalator and took a chunk out of my knee? Well, it’s taking forever to heal. Seriously old.

{July 20, 2009}   Rightio, then

Okay, for all readers, do not run up an escalator. I did so recently and I took a chunk out of my knee. It didn’t hurt too much, but I bled a lot. I had to be bandaged up by the train station manager. Yeah.

Okay, firstly, I have to comment on Michael Jackson’s death. I’m really disgusted by his dad. Every time that guy appeared on TV about his son’s death, he promoted his business. Yeah, this IS your son’s death, mate. Also, his plan if he got custody of Michael’s kids? A world tour. Yeah, isn’t that lovely?

Okay, I saw the recent Harry Potter film. I did enjoy it. There was one thing I was annoyed about (you’ll all probably know when you see it), but otherwise, it was good. It was funny. I wouldn’t take kids to see it, though (unless they handled Goblet of Fire).

Music: Just bought Paramore’s Riot album. It’s pretty good. Like the song Heavy Cross by the Gossip. Just found out about a song called Homecoming by Hey Monday (I think it’s too late to buy the single, though – bugger!!!!!).

{July 18, 2009}   100th Post!

Yay! I actually made it. Sorry I haven’t posted before now, but I’ve been travelling (hence why the parts of my feet which weren’t covered by my flats have – wait for it – tanned. Yes, considering I didn’t think I COULD tan, that is quite impressive). It was really nice. Warm.

I have just discovered that I am a Buffy fan. I saw two random episodes previously (one with everyone becoming their Halloween costumes and one where Buffy becomes a caveman), but I’ve now also seen the first two episodes and the one where everyone’s nightmares are coming true. I am now really into it.

Songs I’m currently checking out (which are fairly new):

  1. Funhouse – Pink
  2. Already Gone – Kelly Clarkson
  3. Sweet Dreams – Beyonce
  4. If Today was Your Last Day – Nickelback
  5. New Divide – Linkin Park
  6. Second Chance – Shinedown
  7. Battlefield – Jordin Sparks

I saw Harry Potter 6. It’s funny and everything; I’m just a little annoyed because they left something out that I thought should have been in the film.

Fun for me today;I was running up the escalator at the train station and I feel. It only stung a little, but I had a bad feeling when my leg suddenly became wet. I pulled the leg of my jeans up and, yep, MAJOR bleeding (all over the inside of my jean leg. Yeah, that’ll be so much fun to get out). I went up to the ticket inspector (after showing my ticket) and asked if she had a band aid, lifting up the leg of my jeans. After a “Christ”, she called the station manager and directed me to where I could find him. They bandaged it up. It might have needed a stitch, but they can’t stitch it, it turns out, so it’s going to take forever to heal. I looked at it; I feel sick. I don’t want to look at it again.Man, I don’t feel good.

{June 14, 2009}   W-O-W

Okay, out of nowhere I got 23 visits (viewings of my blog have been pretty limited lately). And it’s all because of the duck analogy. I know one person visited my blog and another person probably did, but other than that, I’ve got no clue.

Been listening to Paparazzi by Lady Gaga. It’s actually a pretty good song which doesn’t mention sex whatsoever (a refereshing change).

Now, because I’m ridiculously intelligent, it should come as no surprise that the last few times we’ve gotten Nando’s chicken, I’ve accidentally put the hot sauce over my rice instead of the mild. Thinking back on it, it does explain why my lips went kinda numb.

I’ve finally watched both eps of Bones, the last of which had the Gravedigger bury Booth alive. Good ep. Although I have to say, I recently saw repeats of the first season and I realise how incompetent they’ve made Bones with other people. The first few episodes, she was good at forensic anthropology but she could work well with people. Now, she’s really, REALLY bad with people. Why in God’s name is it impossible to have someone good at science who’s got people skills? Does it make viewers feel bad because she looks great, she’s smart and (for a maximum of one season), she could work with people?

Oh, I keep forgetting to say that I loved Planet of the Dead (the Dr Who Easter special). Next one looks interesting and there are a TONNE of rumours going around for the two eps (Christmas and another) after Waters of Mars. Mainly about casting. I’ve heard about all these people (with help from imdb. ):

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

  1. John Simm – the Master (apparently, he’s been photographed)
  2. Timothy Dalton (he’s been sighted and everyone’s going “NEW MASTER”)
  3. Catherine Tate – Donna Noble
  4. Bernard Cribbins – Wilf Noble (rumoured to be a future companion)
  5. John Barrowman – Captain Jack
  6. Noel Clarke – Mickey Smith
  7. Camille Coduri – Jackie Tyler
  8. Billie Piper – Rose Tyler (but apparently, only for Tennant’s last ep)

Then imdb put a random one one – Gillian Anderson as The Rani. Hmm. I’ll tell you what, though. When it comes to casting the 12th Doctor, I reckon they should have Kris Marshall. For those who don’t recognise the name, he was Nick in My Family, Troy in Death at a Funeral and Colin (“God of Sex”) in Love, Actually. He can be manic and amusing. However, it was in a shortlived British crime show called Murder City where he proved that he could do serious well. So that’s my vote.

I know, a shameful effort on my part. Let’s see, what have you missed? Well, I’m sick. Apparently the last time the h1n1 virus was around, it became Spanish Influenza (yes, Twilight nuts, go ahead and squeal). I’ve been happily watching Heroes, addicted once again. Bones is good. Watching Thank God You’re Here on and off. I’ve heard two Muse songs (one due to the success of Twilight, one not), they being Time is Running out and Supermassive Blackhole. There’s a really cool song by Sia called Buttons that you guys should have a listen to. The trailers for the following are online:

New Moon

Doctor Who: Waters of Mars

Sherlock Holmes

A bunch of us went to Sizzler recently. One member of the group was dared to have a mixture of the following and did consume it:

  • Soft serve ice cream
  • Smarties
  • Marshmallows
  • Soft drink
  • Salt and Pepper

Okay, I still haven’t seen Wolverine. It. Is. KILLING ME. Seriously, I’ve been looking forward to this for God knows how long.

Damn it, I want to get better. I keep sneezing and everything. Worst of all, my eyes are watering. One at a time.

There’s going to be a Doctor Who movie with David Tennant! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, the BBC are doing Hamlet with him and Patrick Stewart.

In Bruges = depressing as Hell. I don’t get why it was classified as a comedy. Yes, it was black, but it was not comedic. I regret getting it out. Blazing Saddles, on the other hand, was interesting. I’ve got the song French Mistake stuck in my head. For those who don’t know, this was pretty much the first movie that was a spoof. It was created by (who else) Mel Brooks.

Lady GaGa is kind of crass. Liked her first single Just Dance; the lyrics were okay, but the music was great, even if the film clip was dubious. I didn’t mind the second single Poker Face until it was played more times than I’ve had hot meals. Third single Eh Eh (Nothing Else I can Say) was meh. And then I hear the fourth- Love Game. The music is great. But it contains the lyrics “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick”. I mean, seriously? No, right now, I like the song Waking up in Vegas by Katy Perry. For those who like a decent spoof, however, someone did a version of Poker Face called Butterface. As in “her body’s fantastic, but her face…”. Also, would it really kill her to wear pants and not leotards for once? I don’t normally bitch, but seriously, she probably has enough money to buy proper clothes. If she’s not careful, she’ll end up like Madonna: not bad music, but you’re put off by the muscles and everything. And the weird hair-bow thing is just that: weird.

{March 31, 2009}   Ugh

SO many assignments and exams  and I’m sick. With a virus. Oh joy. Wonderful timing. I’ve had about every possible symptom I could have. And it’s getting OLD. At least I could submit one of my assessments. It was Brecht stuff, which means I’m now picking up Brecht in movies such as Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Anyway, let’s see. Movie news. Emily Browning will be in a Zack Snyder film. Voyage of the Dawn Treader will be doing some filming in OZ in July.

Music: I have recently come across a pretty sexy song with a very “steamy” film clip. It’s by Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake and it’s called Love Sex Magic. This one is a good song, plus it’s getting publicity because of the film clip. It’ll sell.

{March 10, 2009}   I Know, I Know

I  haven’ been on a  while. Okay, before I get into the schronicles of my life, here’s some good stuff:

  • Natasha Bedingfield’s NB album has two secret songs in the last track
  • War, Inc is really good, but I can see why a lot of people didn’t like it; it was very biting
  • Ditto Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Okay, what’s happened recently? Well, dear readers, I’ve been working my arse off in reference to assignments. Also, my group and I went to Baskin Robbins one rainy afternoon (it’s in a teeny shopping corner). It was fun; at one stage, two of my friends and I skipped across te road and back singing (the first time, we were singing Raindrops keep Falling on my Head, the second time, it was Eye of the Tiger). That was fun. I think you all know about the torturous swimming carnival. Um… oh, preparing for my formal (aka Prom). Who knew it was so hectic! Making appointments, buying various things. I’m looking for a dress this weekend, but I’ve got less than a month to find a partner. Yeah, this is me. I don’t really know any guys. My friend’s brother is at a camp that weekend. My friend said a friend of her partner would be happy to come, but then the guy asked if I was hot. She apparently said that I was one of the most attractive people she hangs out with, but she doesn’t want me to take someone to my formal who wants to go, but is wondering if I’m hot.

Photo day is coming up, as is the due date for a couple of assignments and payments. Yipee.

I’ll probably post more later; I just can’t remember the other stuff I had to talk about.

I’m getting back into shape, eating healthier and eating less. I think my metabolism’s changing again ‘cos I can’t eat things too rich and some things which aren’t considered rich I’m now finding too rich (e.g. Milo ice cream).

My friend is really happy with me because I keep giving her posters of the Twilight cast. Also, the guy who plays Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) and Hayden Panettiere (aka Claire off Heroes) are coming to Australia.

Emily Blunt is no longer going to be Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Rumours are it will be Scarlett Johansson.

{January 21, 2009}   Even More Movie Stuff

I just remembered; you know how they remade Knightrider into a TV movie so they could turn it into a TV series? Well, they’re doing the same thing to Ten Things I Hate About You. It has the same Dad, but otherwise, all new cast. The girl who plays Kat is in a popular Nickelodeon TV series and the guyplaying Patrick is the grandson of Gregory Peck. Now, while it’s been getting publicity because it’s his grandson, I don’t think people will see it. It was Julia Stiles’ breakout, but it was Heath Ledger’s Hollywood breakout film, too.

Taylor Lautner is definitely playing Jacob in New Moon. There were some doubts, but it has been confirmed. Ben Barnes (aka Prince Caspian in tha last Narnia movie) wants to play Aro.

Speaking of confirmed, so has a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Now there are all sort of rumours as to who will be in it. There was a minor Robert Pattinson rumour, but there was a bigger rumour that Russell Brand would play Jack’s brother.

Well, Teresa Palmer is doing well for herself. She started getting attention as Melody in 2:37. She then got noticed in the Grudge 2 and December Boys, being Daniel Radcliffe’s first on-screen kiss (although Order of the Phoenix came out before December Boys). More recently, there was Restraint/Guests/Ravenswood and Bedtime Stories. Now, she’s in the latest Just Jeans fashion campaign, has finished Young Americans/Kids in America (with Topher Grace from That 70’s Show) and has two or three movies in the works and is appearing in magazines more frequently. Nice work. Although the poor thing has had people spreading rumours about her love life even though she’s not really big yet, saying she’s going out with co-stars from pretty much each of her movies. Hopefully, it’ll get better for her.

The song Decode by Paramore (responsible for the song Misery Business) featuring as the song for the Twilight soundtrack featuring clips from the movie in the film clip (funnily enough, the song isn’t actually in the movie) is doing supremely well. It’s a good song, but the fact that it’s for Twilight has made it bigger.

{January 20, 2009}   I’m Back (Finally)

Yes, I know, I haven’t posted lately. Well, I’ve been getting social. Anyway, I saw Marley and Me with friends and it was good. Jennifer Aniston was especially good.

Okay, music. Um, I’m really liking the song You Found Me by The Fray. Nat Bassingthwaighte’s song Someday Soon is fairly good. Oh, My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson is awesome! Others to check out are Miss Independent by Ne-Yo and Please Don’t Leave Me by Pink.

Recently saw Jurassic Park and it’s full of suspense. I love it. We’ve got out Lost World (Jurassic Park 2) and Jurassic Park 3, so I should see them. The Bank Job is well done (Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows are in it). I recently saw a new Ice Age 3 trailer involving a female squirrel which is funny. Another movie I’ve just watched on DVD for the first time is Soapdish. My Grandma had it and she doesn’t watch the same movies often, so she gave us a few and that was one. It is funny as Hell.
