The Girl in Red’s Weblog

{December 21, 2008}   Four Sleeps ’til Christmas!

Yes, this week is sure to be filled with some kind of poultry, ham, chocolate, punch, wine, chocolate, nuts and various other things. I’m really looking forward to Christmas. I always hope really hard that my family and whatever like the presents I got them. Same with birthdays. But yeah, while I love the receiving, I find the giving more pleasureable. So far no one has done the frozen smile thing when they’ve opened their present from me, but I’m always worried about it.

Did you know that there are three songs with the title “Breathe”? Just like there are three versions of “Mambo No.5″ (love the first cover, hate the second). There’s one by Blu Cantrell and Sean Paul which isn’t bad. I like the other two more, though. One’s by Anna Nannick. My favourite, however, is the Michelle Branch version. Actually, I’ve also been listening to her song “Everywhere”.

Okay, what have I been looking up on the internet? Okay, there have been quite a few interviews and skits and stuff with the three main stars of Tropic Thunder (Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr.). There’s the “behind the scenes” of their “viral ad for Tropic Thunder” sketch.  There’s an American Idol skit (look up Gladys Knight and the Pips). But on top of this, I’ve accidentally found RDJ on Rove, Jack Black challenging Michael Buble on Rove and Robert Downey Jr.’s acceptance speech at ShoWest (Empire magazine had mentioned ShoWest a few issues back and some funny thing between RDJ and Stiller as they introduced clips. Actually, that’s where I heard about the viral ad skit).

{December 11, 2008}   No one even bothers anymore

By this, I mean reading my blog. I mean, a whole tonne of people read about the weird troll who was masquerading as an overprotective/controlling/damn annoying/creepy dad, but otherwise, no one bothers.

For wannabe actors who like either New Moon, Eclipse, Gossip Girl or other stuff, check out this website: http://acting411.blogspot.com/

I bitched about my most recent awkward/embarrassing moment on Imdb. Big mistake. I got asked if I was hot (my response being that I wasn’t ugly, but I wasn’t jaw-to-the-floor, either). After being told that there was nothing wrong with a decent looking girl incidentally flashing people (big difference between accidental flashing and being exposed). After this argument which went on, one user decides to annouce that the user I’m arguing with and yours truly is one and the same. BAH!!!!!!!! I’m not like some users; I don’t have more than one username and masquerade as two different people.

I finally saw the movie version of Twilight. If you liked the books, then you will most definitely like the movie. Thing was, it’s weird being stuck with a bunch of tweenie boppers/giggling teenage girls. Of course, there was cheering when Jacob and Edward first came on screen.

I probably haven’t mentioned them yet, but I’m looking forward to the X-Men: Origins movies. Yes, that’s right, movies. I know everyone knows about the Wolverine movie. BUT, oh yes, there’s a but, there’s another: there will be a Magneto one. There is no knowledge as to who is in the Magneto one, unfortunately, but info on both films (known info, that is) is on imdb). Whle we’re on the topic of X-Men, check this out:

Younger “X-Men” Film In The Works
Wed, 19 Nov 2008
The mutants just got younger. Twentieth Century Fox is prepping up a new “X-Men” film with younger mutants, with “Gossip Girl” creator Josh Schwartz tapped to pen the script.

“X-Men: First Class” will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, the producer of the first three mutant flicks – which starred Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen. “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” writer Simon Kinberg will also be producing.

Schwartz is expected to bring in a younger batch of superheroes in the series. The students at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, who were introduced in the previous films in cameo roles, will likely be taking more active parts in the upcoming film.

The first three “X-Men” films earned .2 billion worldwide. (http://www.icelebz.com/movies/news/younger_x-men_film_in_the_works/)

In more movie news, Robert Downey Jr is the latest actor to take on the role that is Sherlock Holmes, with Jude Law as Watson. God, there’s so much news in the way of movies right now.

{December 6, 2008}   Okey-Dokey

Obviously, it’s not long ’til Christmas. I need to do some real shopping for various people. I have to vacuum my room ‘cos I can finally do that now. So who would believe me if I said my social life is in overdrive? Yep, various parties, movie trips, etc. It’s brilliant. Tiring and time consuming, obviously, but brilliant. And fun. Pity I’m so out of shape. Seriously, it’s getting kind of bad. I tried going on the exercise bike, but then I got overheated and dizzy for reasons I don’t comprehend. Then when I tried to go on it again, my family were like “NO!”.

Recently watched Scrubs again. I swear to God, it’s the damnedest show ever. But, let’s face it, it’s funny. My fave ep is the musical one.

New music alert! It’s from a singer called Jessica Mauboy. Many know her as the 2006 Australian Idol runner-up in addition to joining the group made up of many ex-Idol contestants (the other members being Kate deAruago, Paulini and Emily Williams) the Young Divas (she originally replaced Ricki-lee, but I believe she’s now left the group, too). More recently, she’s released a solo album, with the well known hit Running Back featuring Flo-Rida. However, she has just released an awesome song called Burn. Check it out; something tells me it’s going to do well. She is also set to be in a remake of an Abroiginal musical with Missy Higgins, Geoffrey Rush, Madga Szubanski etc.

I love Iron Man (don’t forget about the coda), as you probably know and am looking forward to the planned sequels in addition to The Avengers movie. I don’t know how many Americans even look at this blog, but I just found this:

So there you go. I also recently saw Snakes on a Plane. Well, part of it. I stopped watching. Okay, here’s the thing: I’m relatively good with movie and TV violence. But a high heel through the ear drum? A snake going for the eye? Not to mention all the sexual violence (I mean, come on, combining sex with violence is sick). Shame, really; I like Samuel L. Jackson.

They’ve stopped showing season 4 of Bones for the moment and are starting from the very beginning. Annoying, but I also realised that as the show has developed, the character of Bones has become nerdier and nerdier.  Started watching a program called Eli Stone, which was really good.

For all music buffs, obviously Kings of Leon are getting big and they have awesome music (Sex on Fire, Use Somebody). T.I released a song with Rihanna called Live your Life. For dance lovers, there’s a song called Get Shaky by the Ian Carey Project. I recently remembered a song by N.E.R.D called She wants to Move and so I’ve been listening to that.

{November 26, 2008}   Well, HI!!!!!

Yes, hello again. Getting into Heroes and Bones right now, but seven are about to temporarily stop Bones again. That kinda sucks.

So, Twilight came out in the US and I’ve been hearing mixed reviews from the fanatics of the series. Of course, you get idiots everywhere. This has led to the Goddess website earning itself a particularly irritating troll using two usernames. Here is one of his posts:

I went to the local Barnes and Nobles to see if I could buy my daughter some books to educate and develop her brain. I was shocked to find the entire “Teen” section of Barnes and Nobles adorned with nothing but vampire novels. Not just “Twilight” related books, but books that have nothing to do with Twilight. Books that have a vampire theme to them. IT was rather sickening to see. From “Suck It Up” to “Blood and Chocolate” to some other oddly named piece of pervasive garbage after another I was in a whirlwind of terror as I realized that the next generation of children are being bred to become nothing more and nothing less than soulless vampires that like to drink other people’s blood.
Another thing that I found very disturbing was a group of teenage girls who were mocking the title “Suck It Up.” They were making hand gestures with their tongues, lips, and hands. They were talking really loud, upsetting patrons, and making obscene and rude comments using euphemisms for the word “suck” and it’s related sexual act. An act that I shall refrain from saying here.
Is this what our world has come to? Kids are turning into promiscuous, blood-sucking, deranged and immoral vampires, creatures of the night that stalk and pervert any and all aspects of purity that come before it?! As a father of a precious twelve-year-old jewel, Emily Rose, my daughter, I find it increasingly disturbing that there is a market available to quench the eternal blood thirst of teens for all things vampire related. What upsets me most is the multitude and the cavalcade of vampire related books available for kids to see. This is rather disturbing indeed. Indeed. In. Deed.

This person didn’t seem to realise that Blood and Chocolate is about werewolves. I looked it up.

And here is another under their original username (actually, their original post):

After a long day of studying her science books, I let my daughter out of her room so that she could catch up on some reading. She loves to read. I allowed her to read the “Twilight” novels, but after watching the sickening, gratuitous, and immoral movie, I decided not to let her read the novels. Instead, she transitioned into reading “Of Mice and Men” — but I did tear out the pages of the last chapter in which George shoots Lennie in the head. Anyways, she said she didn’t understand some of the symbolism and wanted to go on the internet to see sparknotes.com so that she could understand what the symbology meant. I let her do so. I knew that she wouldn’t go to any other mischievous sites such as this, mainly because she was using the family computer and not my laptop, because the family computer has state-of-the-art protection against filthy material. These programs that facilitate the blocking of such filthy websites are known as “blockers.”
Well, she was on the internet and I go to check on her and I see her watching clips from the movie “Twilight” on YouTube. I was furious. I pulled the phone cord out of the modem and told her to go to her room and read there. I followed her and sat in front of her, watching, watching like a hawk. I watched her, never blinking, and staring into her criss-crossing eyes as she rapidly read the first chapter of “Of Mice and Men” before her reading time was up. While watching my precious daughter, I was suddenly faced with the realization that filth is everywhere in our world. It’s not just relegated to the cinemas. I though I could have my precious jewel-of-a-daughter escape the bloodlust that is “Twilight” once out of the theater; I was wrong. I realized that the pervasive nature of “Twilight” can be found right in our homes thanks to the corruption of the internet and the mischievous website known as YouTube.
If my precious daughter wanted to go on YouTube and watch some videos, I wouldn’t mind. I just wish the videos were of a pure nature. I wish that she would watch something that was not immoral, was fun for everyone including the whole family, and contained light-hearted and wonderful poetic moments. Videos such as this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGN2L-56xbE
I just hope my daughter has learned her lesson. I thought she would be saved since I nearly dislocated her arm dragging her out of the theater yesterday, but I was wrong. She has already started a rebellious course of lying, deceit, and watching salacious material in real-life and on the internet. I just hope she is not beyond saving. I love you, Emily. My precious rose. My precious daughter. I’m here for you. Always. Let this letter on a public forum be a testament to my love for you. I love you Emily. Listen to daddy, for daddy knows best. You will thank me when you are older. Love you. *crying*

Everyone is almost certain that this person is a troll, also masquerading as “Emily” on the boards. And it’s pissing everyone off. Especially since someone found the story on copypasta . Let’s just hope that there will never be anyone this controlling that I know of.

{September 18, 2008}   The Obscure world that is Youtube

Okay, checking out Youtube. Obviously, that is how I rediscovered songs such as “Coco Jamboo”. But I’ve found a lot of other stuff. There’s a song which goes “They’re going to take me away” which is so strange. The song “We Cry” by the Script is a really good song. I checked out a little bit of Monty Python, such as the fish slapping dance. Also, the Lumberjack song by the Python crew.

Look, I’m not going to be on here for a little whlie, ‘cos I’m going to be REALLY busy, but if you guys leave me comments (such as ideas for lists and things of the like), I will be more than happy to sort everything out when I’m no longer busy.

Nice to know people have actually been searching for me on this website. youtube the girl in red and the girl in red were two searches which led to my blog. Also, some other recent searches which led to my blog: tgir girl,  insult dictionary,  “You wouldn’t even have coffee with me?” (love the Bones quote).

Okay, for all those who missed it, everyone thought the world was going to end the other day because they’re simulating black holes. It didn’t (though that doesn’t mean the people who wanted to research it and the people financing it shouldn’t be shot. “Oh, let’s create the possibility for world damnation.”), some believeing it was all a bunch of crap from the start, those who worried it might and those who think the world will end in 2012 when the Mayan calendar does. I did not originally know about this. My friend told me the world was going to end. I’d seen some people on the Goddess website posting stuff about it, but I didn’t know why. So now I had my friend telling me this, I start to remember the posts and freak out about what it meant. It didn’t help that she told me seconds before I went into an exam. Anyway, the thing that got to me most was how excited everyone was at the idea of the world ending and how disappointed they were when it didn’t happen.

Songs: Cry for You – September, Dreams – the Cranberries, Break my Stride (the Unique II version). Yeah, with the exception of the first, I’m looking back. There was also one called “Coco Jamboo” by Mr President. Plus “She drives me Crazy” by Fine Young Cannibals and “the Lumberjack song” (yeah, a little Monty Python).

When I think of more, I’ll post it.

tGiR

P.S. MOST OF MY ASSESSMENT IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy now.

Woohoo!!!

Okay, I just discovered for all you Bones fans a few sneak peaks from the first ep of the fourth season!!!

http://www.buddytv.com/articles/bones/bones-stars-dishes-on-the-new-22329.aspx

Now, is it just me, or does it appear to be that the English actress in the first clip played Susie in Torchwood?

I’m assuming you’ve all seen the Doctor Who Christmas special teaser. If not, it should be on Youtube.

{August 28, 2008}   Blech

I’m sick. Virus plus low blood pressure. Dude, it totally sucks. Everytime I stand up, I get dizzy. I’ve spent most of the day sitting down. Small but permanent headache with me, I thought you guys needed another post.

Okay, for anyone who’s seen both the trailers for Twilight, check this out on youtube: Twilight Trailer Spoof. It is HILARIOUS, I promise. It’s funny, but only if you’ve seen both trailers. There’s supposedly going to be another trailer (not a teaser) which has a surprise date. Plus, they’re filming an extra scene. A flashback, apparently.

Yay! The Olympics are over and now I can get back to watching Bones. And City Homicide is back! Yippee! New character on Bones. A psychiatrist. I liked the last scene with him in it – “You wouldn’t even have coffee with me?”, the way he’s just grinning to himself and writing down notes.

I wish I had a book to read. I’ve read all the ones on my shelf a tonne of times. Actually, now that I think about it, I got out a book the other day, so I’ll try to read that. If anyone’s got any boredom busters for me (or any ideas for lists), I’d appreciate them right about now.

Ah, my head.
